Hello everybody who still reads this: I'm back! From nowhere, actl.

Today, I had my best driving lesson yet. The instructor was being super patient with me (he looks like and talks like that nice Chem tchr at rj Mr Jeremy whatshisname). Sure, I stalled 4658275630 times, I striked the kerb, I couldn't engine brake properly and I still can't judge distances properly (which made me a total wimp when it came to overtaking/lane changing) but I was confident enough to drive around Eunos link, Tampines Ave 1/4/5/10 and the backroads of the Tampines industrial area :D

Also the car (it's 182, everybody, if you get assigned to 182, you're in luck!) was a joy (this is relative, the Vios is a rubbish car) to drive because 1) it was the first training car I've had which had air freshener in it (!), 2) it was decently powered, 3) the ride was bearable.

My progress has been pretty slow; I'll be reviewing module 1 this Friday morning (lesson 8). But that's okay because it just gets easier :)

Anw, results come out Friday afternoon :/

5th driving lesson yesterday. Other than my lousy right turns at big junctions (dual carriageways), I thought I was driving pretty well but the douchebaggy instructor didn't think so. At some parts I was holding half-clutch to control the speed because I had no time to change down/traffic conditions but he kept telling me like "how do you expect your car to move" and once he talked as if he was trying to teach me what a clutch was omg insulting my intelligence much, I'm not going to burn the clutch la okay don't worry. I'm not very hard on the accelerator (I mostly keep to 2-2.5k rpm max) but he wanted me to rev to 4k rpm to move off, can you imagine that feeling you get when you go from half-clutch to no clutch?!?! Inertia sucks. >:[ At this rate I'll probably take at least 25 lessons to pass.

Sigh. On a lighter note, after that I met Aida for lunch at Wendy's at Wheelock and then The King's Speech at Cathay. It didn't have twists and turns or suspense or anything but what made it a good movie nonetheless was the mixture of good acting, witty dialogue, breathtaking sets and a good story that just needed to be told. Colin Firth's acting was beyond words (pun not intended) so I can see why he won Best Actor at the Golden Globes and Baftas. It's a feel-good movie but I don't think it should've won the Bafta for Best Movie..?

Before we went home, we spent a good amount of time at Gramophone, where I bought Take That's The Greatest Day: Take That Present The Circus Live, 2 discs, for $7.95 (bargain much?). I'm done with Part 1 (live at Wembley). It's mixed very well so it plays like a gapless album and you feel like you're listening to the full recording of the actual concert with no breaks. Said It All, Patience and Rule The World live at Wembley were so spine-tinglingly (?) good. Said It All, especially. Mark and Gary's voices melded so well.  I'm now listening to Part 2 (live at Abbey Road) it's so good omg. Heh Shine is playing now I love Mark's voice on this song laaa. No one could've sung it better.

Oh. Yesterday I also watched S15E06 of Top Gear, where they did the classic British sports car challenge. I thought it was one of the best films they've ever made. They started out at the Lotus factory (still going strong), and visited the Jensen and TVR factories (derelict buildings now) in an 800km journey, and it made me so sad that the British car industry just died. A few decades ago, someone came through the doors of the factory, excited about his idea for a new car and someone somewhere was excited about his car arriving from the factory and now it's mostly all gone :/

Back at lj!

Yesterday was an awesome day. During driving lesson (my fourth) I was finally allowed to leave the circuit :D driving outside was okay la, quite fun even though I was scared to go to fourth gear. Sometimes I braked too late so the instructor had to do it for me (once he even had to change gear for me cos and I had change down and change lane at the same time but I had no idea which gear I was in) And I learned what the heck blind spots were the hard way - a car almost hit me when I wanted to pull out.

Later that day, Iqah Diy and I watched Black Swan. I'm so glad I watched it in a cinema instead of on my computer screen. It was so psychotic, the only thing I could think of was WTF WTF WTF. Oh, and Vincent Cassel was fucking sexy. I thought that I was the only one who thought so, so I kept quiet during the movie but it turned out that Diy and Iqah were thinking the same thing x) Next movie: The King's Speech :D

I've finally made a decision about what to do with my hair. I'm just gonna let it grow because there's nothing happening in my life anyway.

1. I'm done reading Dara O Briain's Tickling The English. Such a great read. I don't want to return it to the NLB eh :(

2. Received the latest issue of TIME today. The cover illustration includes Jared Loughner's mugshot. Gosh, I keep seeing it on the news and I don't like it, he looks super psychotic in the mugshot.

3. Will attempt to bake a pie on Saturday. Hope it goes better than my previous failed dish. Heh I'm quite excited.

This week, I had two interviews. One went quite well and the other, not so; I didn't have much to say and my thoughts were so disorganized.

Good news, I've passed my BTT. I've also decided that I'd rather focus on driving lessons and get my license quickly than go to work everyday, so I'm probably not gonna work unless I can pass by April or May (which is highly unlikely) Means money will be tight but that's okay it'll be tighter when I go to uni

I found this book in the history section, among books about WWII.

SMU interview on Tuesday. My first proper interview ever. I don't even know if I know what to say. Should get ready, I guess.

I know I said I was going to finish my USP essay by Sunday, but I didn't keep my word.

But just a few minutes ago, I submitted it. FINALLYYYYYY! (Haha I'm making such a big fuss about it, it's not an application to some posh uni in some angmohland.)

Idk if it's gonna be good enough (a tad unbalanced IMO) but I think I met all the requirements of the essay.

And so it is time for a celebratory song :D You just have to watch it because the whole video and the song, it's just really uplifting :) It can make shitty days bearable.

Throw those curtains wide,
One day like this a year'd see me right! :)

Anyway, this is prolly my last post of 2010 so I'm kind of obliged to write some kind of reflective post, but really, I don't have much to say.

Some fine memories, but largely, the bad ones stick better in my head. There are some things I haven't been able to do (they'll have to wait till 2011), but yeah, no problem. Bye 2010.

1. I've been sticking to my promise of learning how to cook. I cooked ayam masak merah today :D with mum's supervision of course. I'm still scared of hot oil.

2. Done with my SMU app. Well, not done done, still have to mail my records. They want my A level results but don't state whether I should send in my prelim results instead since those aren't available. And my records have to be there in 2 weeks max. How does this work?

3. Haven't started physically writing/typing out my USP essay; right now I just have lots of ideas in my head with no clue how to synthesise them all. I have a feeling I've forgotten how to write an essay (even though it's just a 400-600 word one). I'm pretty sure I've forgotten how to spell a bit. Nevertheless, I'm going to complete this one by Sunday night By Any Means Necessary. Once this is over, I can move on to...

4. Studying for BTT, which is on 13th Jan. I can pretty much rmbr signs (they make sense, really) and traffic police hand signals but still can't rmbr road markings for nuts. 45/50 to pass, ggxx.

5. Getting a job, I think. But honestly, I'd be too lazy to do anything that requires me to be out of the house more than twice a week. Haha.
